OPLA 2009 Class information

There were a lot of great suggestions for the March OPLA weekend. We did our best to accommodate the requests. It was suggested to have the weekend in Springfield, Mo. as that seems to be a more central location for most members. SO....here's what we're offering:

MARCH 13-14, 2009
Krystal Aire Hotel, Springfield, Mo

C.D. Lipscomb, CML,CPS,CIL will be joining us in Springfield, Mo. the weekend of March 13-14 to present OPLA with some educational classes. Friday evening he is presenting "Service Call Management", and "Collecting Your Money". Saturday he will be presenting a Kwikset Smartkey class and an Electronic Safe Lock Servicing class.

C.D. Lipscomb, CML, CPS, CIL has actively worked as a Locksmith and Physical Security Technician for 30+ years. He operates a full service, storefront locksmith shop with multiple outside service vehicles in Corsicana, Texas. He is an active member of ALOA, SAVTA, TLA, ALNT, MLA, OMLA, ILA, CTLA, and COLA. He has served on the executive boards of several of those industry related organizations. In addition to operating a working business, he currently teaches various Industry Training Classes for local, state and national locksmith associations and conducts specific customized private training classes for Businesses in the Physical Security Industry. He owns, and provides quality industry-related instruction through, Navco Training Center in Corsicana, Texas.

FRIDAY EVENING CLASSES 7:00pm-?
Service Call Management - Seminar - 2 hr CEU

The student will be taught telephone, dispatching and service call protocol. This is a class for dispatchers and shop personnel that take phone requests for service as well as the service technician that responds to the call. The student will be shown the proper elements to include on field invoices for identification and authorization purposes to satisfy state law. A frame-able class certificate will be provided.

Collecting YOUR Money!! - Seminar - 2 hr CEU

This class will teach the student how to get proper credit information from the customer, and avoid traps. The student will be taught how to manage his/her Accounts Receivable properly to assure that any money owed them is collected. The student will be taught how to design, use, and enforce business policies and field invoices that will help assure prompt payment from National Service Providers as well as other credit customers. This Seminar will help the small businessperson to keep their cash-flow flowing. A frame-able class certificate will be provided.

SATURDAY CLASSES Registration begins at 7:00 Class 8:00am-4:00pm
Electronic Safe Lock Servicing - 1 day Class (8 CEU)

The Student will be taught to properly identify, service, troubleshoot and perform basic combination changes on various electronic safe locks commonly found on modern and retrofitted safes. The student will also be introduced to servicing tips and diagnostic procedures for repairing Tidel Tacc II series of Cash Controller safes. This will be taught as a Power Point Presentation accompanied by demo models of various locks. A frame-able class certificate will be provided.

Kwikset Smartkey Servicing
(Class suitable for both basic and advanced students 2 hr, CEU)

The student will be taught how to service this new sidebar lock through hands-on, movie, and power point presentations. This instruction will include decoding and existing lock for the existing bitting, disassembly of the lock and correct reassembly, and at least 2 ways of resetting the lock to a new key. The student will learn multiple ways to open these locks involving non-destructive means. A frameable class certificate will be provided.

March Class Registration
Class registrations must be received by February 28, 2009
Class fee $100 for first person $50 each additional person for OPLA Members, paid in advance.

Non members and paid at the door $125 first person and $75 each additional person.
Friday night class is free for all employees who want to attend with 1 paid Saturday class. Both classes are limited to 20 persons.
